Some diseases that mimic appendicitis
There is a main factor that really affects the diagnosis of appendicitis in any patient; this is because there are few diseases that show the same symptoms such as appendicitis. The patients that are mostly thought of having appendicitis are mostly found with other complications or diseases. This symptom strongly suggests that the person has appendicitis but in reality the disease is somewhat different. So perhaps there are conditions showing symptoms of appendicitis but they are not.
What conditions are there which can mimic appendicitis?
There are many suspected problems that can really mimic appendicitis. These conditions are:
1) Meckel’s diverticulum is an out pouching of the small intestine, this cause the Meckel’s diverticulitis; this is situated near the abdomen that is next to the appendix. Sometimes it may get inflated or even perforated thus causing the symptoms of appendicitis.
2) Pelvic inflammatory disease: the ovary and the right fallopian tube lies near appendix, this can cause infection in the sexually active women. These are basically disorders that are related to the ovary and surgical diseases.
3) Inflammatory diseases: fluids may drain out from the right abdomen; mainly the upper one thus may stimulate inflammatory reactions. These are near the gall bladder and even the liver and other body organs.
4) Kidney related problems: the closeness of the right kidney near the appendix can cause kidney inflammatory reactions; these disorders can also mimic appendicitis.
5) Right sided diverticulitis: diverticula’s are mostly located on the left side of the body, but may occasionally occur on the right side. This stage of occurrence may also cause symptoms that might mimic the appendicitis, but it may rupture appendix sometimes, due to the inflammatory actions.
